Hitters Are Victorious at OPRF
The Hitters left Oak Park River Forest High School on Friday night with a 34 to 7 victory.
As these young men are no strangers to a winning record, a victory against the Huskies was not unexpected, however the margin of the win was surprising, as this particular contest was expected to be the most difficult they would face in the regular season.
For the first twelve minutes, both Glenbard West and Oak Park fans thought as much. Oak Park scored the first touchdown and the Hitters followed suit, tying the game within the last two minutes of the first quarter.
From that moment on, Glenbard West made their defeat of Oak Park River Forest look easy. In a classic display of Hitter football, by the end of the game the team had compiled 103 all-purpose yards from senior Isaiah Skinner, 104 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns from Vanderbilt commit and fan favorite Sam Brodner, and a 13-17 record from quarterback Brian Cochrane.
Junior Dionte Moorhead and seniors Kobe Easley and Chrystian Maciorowski also had impressive performances, securing the Hitters both a 7-0 record for this season and their eighth consecutive conference championship.
The Hitters have two games left in their regular season. This coming week they will play Proviso West (1-6) at home, followed by Addison Trail (3-4) away. If they keep playing the way they have all season, two more wins will be a breeze.
Make sure to come out to Duchon to support the Hitters as they travel into the post season. As always, go West!
