Glenbard West Field Hockey Wins 3rd At State
The Varsity Glenbard West Field Hockey team won 3rd at the Illinois High School Field Hockey Association state finals on Saturday, October 29.
The team beat North Shore Country Day 1-0 in a tense game at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. After a 3-1 loss on Thursday to New Trier in the semifinals, Glenbard West bounced back for a quick start on Saturday. The team played hard, sprinting up and down the field while fighting for possession of the ball.
Anna Enright, a senior and a captain, scored the goal with a skilled tip-in during the second half with an assist from sophomore Amber Bode.
Glenbard West had to fight until the very end of the game, as North Shore hammered the goal in the last ten minutes of the second half. However, West’s defense prevailed and shut out their opponents to win 3rd in the state of Illinois.
The team received medals and were presented their trophy by three-time Olympian Lauren Crandall and two-time Olympian Michelle Vittese.
Be sure to congratulate the Varsity Field Hockey team on their win!
