Have a Fun and Safe Prom!

This is it. The biggest night of your life.

While that might be a slight exaggeration, senior Prom is the creme brulee of all high school dances.

For the ladies, it means selecting the perfect dress that no one else has, picking out just the right shoes that look great and don’t cause you to physically harm yourself and others, and choosing the best spot to take pictures because, let’s be honest, the guys don’t really care.

For the guys it means telling their moms to rent a tux and get a corsage at the last possible moment.

Every year, however, there are tragic stories about teen drinking on Prom weekends. There are students who tragically never see their graduation day. Plans are made for parties and weekend escapes. While we all want to have a good time, a memorable time, we need to keep in mind the importance of smart choices. We all must strive to uphold the true character of Glenbard West students.

At Glenbard West we are incredibly lucky to have a tremendous support group in the parents who volunteer to host the Post Prom event. It provides all of us an opportunity to have a place to go and hang with our friends. The theme for Post Prom this year is Beach Party. There are so many fun activities, games, a candy room, tattoos, an All-U-Can Eat Diner, and maybe karaoke. Don’t forget, there are also tons of great prizes all night long. The party starts at 11:30 p.m. and will run until 3:30 a.m. at Ackerman Sports Center.  You can buy tickets at the door ($20) and attending Prom is not required to attend Post Prom.
