5 Things to Know If You’re New to Fantasy Football

Do you have friends that constantly rave on about their fantasy football teams? Want to join in but don’t know how to get started? Here’s a few tips and tricks to get you started.

  1. Believe it or not, there is still time to start a fantasy team. Most websites allow you to create a team until about halfway through the regular season. There are also websites such as DraftKings.com where you create a new team every week.
  2. You don’t need to be a football fanatic to do well in fantasy football. Football, like all sports, is filled with upsets and injuries giving a novice fantasy player a strong chance to beat more experienced fantasy players.
  3. Trash talking is a fun way to poke fun at your competitors and to show off some competitiveness.
  4. Never take a QB in the first round of the draft; instead, pick a wide receiver or a running back. There are plenty of serviceable QB’s to choose from.
  5. Despite the competitiveness of fantasy football, remember that you are playing for fun. Take a step back and enjoy yourself!
