October Senior Spotlight: Dre Thomas

This month’s Senior Spotlight features our very own Hitter, #1, Dre Thomas. As his Glenbard West football career is nearing an end, let’s learn a little more about this athlete!

Abby: What position do you play?

Dre: I play running back and a little bit of linebacker.

Abby: How long have you been playing football?

Dre: I have been playing football since I was in 5th grade on a team in Addison, named the Addison Cowboys.

Abby: Do you have any game-day superstitions?

Dre: I can’t eat anything before a game because I feel like it would make me play slow and not well.

Abby: What’s the Hitters’ current record for this season?

Dre: Our current record this season is 6-1.

Abby: Do you think another state championship is in the works to wrap up your senior year football season?

Dre: I think we have a really high percentage of winning another state championship here at Glenbard West. Our team is finally coming and moving together as a whole.

Abby: Where do you hope to go to college?

Dre: I would love to go to either Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, or Kansas. I will most likely be playing college football, so wherever I land a scholarship offer.

Abby: Do you have a favorite memory at West?

Dre: My favorite memory at West is walking down the hill for every football game and just the surreal feeling I get every time.

Abby: What advice would you give to freshmen who are thinking about playing football?

Dre: I think you should play football because it doesn’t just teach you to become a better player, but the coaches’ goal is to make you a better young man and individual in your life ahead of you. Football makes you have responsibilities, just like you will have when you’re older.

Abby: And the most important question for our Glenbard West athlete: will the Cubs go all the way?

Dre: Haha of course, Go Cubs!

Good luck to Dre and all of our Hitters!
