Gobble Gobble: Things to Do over Thanksgiving Break
Many friends and family are reuniting this long break to celebrate friendship and giving thanks. After filling their bellies with a plethora of food, families often find themselves suffering under the ‘post-thanksgiving giving blues.’ Fear not, however, because there are many festivities in the Glen Ellyn area that you can participate in over break.
Thursday, November 23, is a big day for Glen Ellyn: The Glen Ellyn Public library will have live entertainment celebrating the approaching holiday season. Between 1-4:30pm in the upper level of the library, you can hear the wonderful stylings of many choirs such as the One Voice Outreach Choir and the Glenbard South Madrigals. Come see Santa light the Christmas tree in downtown Glen Ellyn later that night at 6:30 and explore the local shops immediately following it.
Want to explore the big city with some friends? Take the train downtown and enjoy festive activities such as ice skating at Millennium Park, or the Christkindlmarket to set the holiday season into high gear.
Rapidly approaching is one of the most anticipated nights of the year: Black Friday. If you can brave the hazardous crowds, go on out and find some steals at stores such as Target, Walmart, or any day your favorite places to shop.
As you can see, there are many activities happening over this break. Any of these ideas can help make your break relaxing and focus on your family and friends. Enjoy the Thanksgiving break!
