Mr. Metzler reflects on his first year at Glenbard West!
Mr. Metzler is a new staff member here at Glenbard West High School. Despite the pandemic’s isolation difficulties, he was able to connect himself into our loving community by joining the GBW Science Department, taking the lead department chair. Mr. Metzler currently lives in Des Plaines, IL and earned his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. Metzler describes education as one of his many passions, adding that all the people here at Glenbard West share a similar goal which is “looking for the best way to help kids learn”.
Joining a new community can be intimidating and stressful, though Mr. Metzler mentioned how he took note of the outstanding community within Glenbard West, putting a decline to his anxiousness. When asking him about his favorite aspect of the school so far, his immediate response was “the people”, exemplifying GBW’s outstanding work atmosphere.
Outside of Mr. Metzler’s school life, he enjoys being active and productive. He specifically likes coaching, gardening, and reading at home during his free time. For example, Metzler explained how he enjoys coaching his ten year old daughter’s softball practices. Overall, Mr. Metzler is very passionate about his hobbies and teaching when reflecting on his first year here. It is with great joy that Mr. Metzler has been able to join the Glenbard West community.
