West Continues to Welcome New Staff Members for the 2022-2023 School Year: Kaleigh Velasquez
*Due to many new staff members, new staff articles will be scattered throughout the school year
Mrs. Kaleigh Velasquez, a new special education teacher, recently joined our Hilltopper family. Before her career here at Glenbard West, Mrs. Velasquez worked as a Direct Support Professional to help various individuals with disabilities. She found a clear passion for Special Education and became a paraprofessional at Adlai E. Stevenson High School, while achieving her Master’s degree in Special Education from public research university, University of Illinois Chicago. Mrs.Velasquez showed an interest in collaborating with the Glenbard West community when several individuals mentioned how wonderful our school is. With excitement to be a part of the Hilltopper family, Mrs. Velaquez constantly gets “reminded that West puts their students and their success first.” on the daily. Specializing in Geometry special education and co-teaching, Mrs. Velasquez often supports students with an IEP, (specialized instruction) to make sure they have success in their classes. She isn’t shy to describe Glenbard West as a “great place to be and a great place to work” when working one on one with students. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Velasquez loves to read and is quite adventurous. She often finds herself exploring new places in Chicago, in close proximity to where she lives.
