This year has seen a lot of new staff join Glenbard West and new to the social studies department is Ms. Noor Maghrebi. Ms. Maghrebi will be teaching U.S. History this year. She went to highschool at one of our sister schools, Glenbard North, and graduated in 2017. She then went to Elmhurst University and double majored in history and secondary education with a minor in political science, she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2021. But Ms. Maghrebi is not done yet! She is currently attending the American College of Education in order to earn a master’s degree in teaching English Learners. Both her parents are immigrants and so she knows that the transition from one country to another is very difficult – she hopes to become an EL teacher so she can help ease that transition for others. Ms. Maghrebi chose to teach history as she enjoys learning about people of other cultures and their struggles, and believes it makes us more empathetic. She especially likes teaching US government as it tells us what rights and freedoms we have as citizens of the United States of America. Ms. Maghrebi has been enjoying the welcoming attitude of the staff and students here at West and, having grown up in Glendale Heights, is excited to give back to her community by teaching a new generation of learners.
West Welcomes Ms. Maghrebi!
