Ms. Fielder is excited to join Glenbard West’s library staff, furthering her ongoing personal interest in literature and encouraging her passion of reading with students. She loves all books, but her favorites are fantasy and science fiction. Namely, Six of Crows and Howl’s Moving Castle.
She was raised and homeschooled in Arlington Heights, where she attended classes at Harper College during her high school years. Afterwards, she studied Psychology at Moody Institute in Chicago for her undergraduate degree and Library and Information Science for her Master’s at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Before coming to GBW, she enjoyed helping with teaching students through her job in public health at Buffaloville High School, District 214 schools, and nearby middle schools.
She is excited about events the library has and will host, including a mock vote with the League of Women Voters, papel picado with GLO, and pumpkin decorating. The largest upcoming event is Finish Strong Week, where she wants to help students relax and study.
She hopes students know that she is: “here to help with anything like projects that they have or, if they want to find books obviously, but if they want help with research or a class thing or just trying to get connected to activities or anything like that. I just want to get to know those students and talk to them. Or, if they want to talk about their nerdy interests, I also love to talk about that too.”
