The 2020 Grammy Awards Preview
The 62nd Grammy Awards is destined to be a show-stopping and star-studded night. On January 26, 2020, this year’s top musicians and artists will be recognized for their achievements in many diverse genres. The Grammy panel has selected a smorgasbord of nominees that all contain talent and passion for their craft. However, the big question remains: who will be the “top-dog” at this years Grammy Awards?
This year, the big names are Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Taylor Swift, among others. All these artists and more are nominated for overlapping categories, ranging from Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Pest Pop Solo Performance, and even Song of the Year. It’s a gamble to say who will take home which prize, but it is really anyone’s game.
In terms of who stacks up the most nominations, Lizzo takes top honors, boasting eight Grammy nominations.
Behind her are Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish, with other big names such as Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift following in their footsteps.
With Lizzo’s album, Cuz I Love You, going up against Billie Eilish’s acclaimed When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? it is still up in the air as to whether the seasoned R&B talent or the seventeen year old Pop/Alternative legend will come home with the most prizes.
Amidst controversy from last year, with the Academy responding to lack of female representation by stating they need to “step it up,” new CEO, Deborah Dugan, will replace Neil Portnow, the former leader of the Recording Academy.
Though still a developing story, it will be an event to watch on January 26, 2020. Check out this link to view all the nominees for the 62nd Grammy Awards!
