The Glen Ellyn Sweet Shoppe, located on Crescent Boulevard, was a staple in Glenbard West’s town of Glen Ellyn for nearly 40 years, but two months ago, it officially closed. Luckily, the new owners of the Shoppe building, the Remillard family, are bringing back the sweet spirit of the Sweet Shoppe with their new business Candy and Cones.
Many students may have seen this exciting news post in the store’s window, but most don’t know the details of the Candy and Cones store. The Glenbard West newspaper reached out to the Remillard family, to ask a few questions that students would like to know about the new Candy and Cones store.
So what made the Remillards want to start a new business in the old sweet shop? “This candy shop has been part of Glen Ellyn for over 40 years, which means it’s woven into a lot of people’s memories,” says new owner Damon Remillard. And Remillard should know. He is an alumni of Glenbard West from the class of 1994.
Remillard said that Candy and Cones will have some of the old nostalgic candy that people are used to finding in this location, but will also feature new soft serve ice cream, with allergy friendly/dye free candy options being expanded. The goal of Candy and Cones is to be a fun place to stop at during your lunch break and make memories. “We want this to be your spot,” says Remillard.
“We love creating a space where everyone feels welcome and where new memories are made every day.” Ultimately, the opening of Candy and Cones will bring fun and fellowship to the heart of downtown Glen Ellyn and keep small, local businesses thriving.

Curiosities about Candy and Cones

Candy and Cones will be open 11 am to 8 pm, daily, 7 days a week. So yes, they are open during school lunch hours. This includes Sundays.
